In response to recent hurricanes and emergency orders issued by the Governor, the department has issued an emergency order to all insurers, HMOs, premium finance companies, surplus lines, and all others regulated by the Office ordering that an insurer may not cancel or nonrenew a personal or commercial residential property policy damaged by either Hurricane Ian or Nicole for 90 days after the dwelling has been repaired. Section 626.913(4) of Florida statute has been suspended as it applies to 626.4133(2)(d) surplus lines insurers. Except for these changes, all other terms of emergency order 300997-22-EO remains in effect. This order will expire upon the expiration of emergency order 300997-22-EO. Copies of this order, the earlier emergency order and the Governor's emergency order may be found here.
