Starr Surplus Lines Insurance Co. sued alternative legal services provider UnitedLex Thursday in Kansas District Court for a declaration of no coverage in connection with claims asserted against UnitedLex in connection with the bankruptcy of LeClairRyan. The suit, backed by Shook, Hardy & Bacon and Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders, seeks judgment that the insurer has no duty under an excess professional liability insurance policy to compensate UnitedLex for its share of a $21 million settlement reached earlier this year with the trustee of the LeClairRyan bankruptcy estate. The case is 2:22-cv-02318, Starr Surplus Lines Insurance Company v. UnitedLex Corporation et al.
