One of eight ex-NFL players who were all accused of taking part in a scheme to steal money from the league's health care reimbursement fund has pleaded guilty this week of submitting false claims amounting to more than $31,000.

The Texas Department of Insurance in conjunction with prosecutors working with the Harris County District Attorney's office uncovered the fraud scheme and brought the case to fruition.

The scheme was to submit false claims to the NFL Player Health Plan for treatments that were never performed. The plan would reimburse for the bills and the players and trainer would pocket the money.
