COVID-19 Frauds Fraud of the Week Multiple COVID-19 Frauds – Georgia No dollar amount
A number of fraud attempts related to the COVID-19 crisis have been reported in various areas of Georgia. Three different people were reported to police for going through the neighborhood trying to sell supplemental COVID-19 insurance. If caught, they will be charged with violating the city's shelter in place ordinance. A fraud investigation will be launched as well, which carriers more serious consequences. Last week in Braselton Georgia was charged in a federal health care investigation for submitting fraudulent claims to insurers. Another individual was arrested for dressing up in a "quarantine suit" and going door-to-door offering fraudulent COVID-19 tests. He was arrested for impersonating a public employee and released on bail.
