Fraud of the Week
Auto Fraud – Idaho
Unknown amount
An Idaho woman purchased auto insurance online in December of 2017. She confirmed coverage with the carrier the next day. Early in January 2018 she reported a claim online stating that her husband hit a deer in one of the vehicles. When the carrier discovered discrepancies in her story, she finally admitted to the Department of Insurance that the accident had occurred before the insurance was purchased. She faces a maximum of sentence of fifteen years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
