Auto Accident Fraud – London
Unknown
A British couple inflated their collision claim by altering the timestamp on photos of the damaged vehicle. The vehicle had existing damage before the loss, but the insured altered the timestamp so that it looked like preexisting damage had resulted from the accident. The insured also stated that his wife and children were in the vehicle when they were not. His wife told investigators the same story. They were found guilty of fraud by false representation, and the husband was sentenced to two and one half years in prison and the wife was sentenced to twelve months in prison, suspended for two years.
