This morning the South Carolina Insurance Department issued a bulletin stating that due to pending catastrophic conditions related to Hurricane Dorian, it is activating the section of insurance code allowing non-resident adjusters or motor vehicle physical damage appraisers to enter the state and handle storm related claims without having to become licensed in South Carolina. The person must be able to provide evidence of an adjuster or appraiser's license in his home state. This provision is only for the time necessary to assist in the adjustment and appraisals related to the storm. The declaration is effective immediately and will continue for 120 days from the date of this bulletin, September 3, unless otherwise extended by the department.
