False Claim Fraud — Lincolnshire, England
Amount: $44,000
A businessman from Lincolnshire, a county in eastern England, has been banned from running any company for 12 years as punishment for submitting fraudulent insurance claims. The fraudster was found to have submitted false insurance claims for what he told the insurers was stolen agricultural equipment, which had actually been seized by creditors for not paying back debts. The fraudster offered to pay back the money but failed to return the full amount. He was under bankruptcy restrictions that will now be extended to May 2031 due to this conduct. Bankruptcy restrictions prevent the fraudster from acting as a company director without the court’s permission for the next 12 years and also prevent him from borrowing more than 500pound sterling (634 US Dollars) without telling the lender that he is subject to restrictions. The fraudster submitted insurance claims that a tractor and three trailers had been stolen, worth a total of 35,000 pound sterling (44,399 US Dollars). A private investigator interviewed the fraudster who admitted that the equipment had been taken by creditors and that he falsified the claims.
