Derrick Killian has been hired as senior staffing underwriter by SUNZ Insurance.

With his respective industry experience and underwriting knowledge, Derrick will be a true asset to our growing team and to the clients we serve,” SUNZ Insurance's chief executive officer, Steven F. Herrig, said in a statement.
SUNZ said that Mr. Killian will serve directly under SUNZ's chief underwriting officer, Blake Souers. In this role, he will be responsible for the evaluation, selection, pricing, and servicing of workers' compensation insurance policies within the company's procedures and guidelines. In addition, he has been tasked with delivering a streamlined underwriting process to support the company's growth initiative while maintaining profitability of the workers' compensation program.
Mr. Killian graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, with a B.S.B.A in finance and insurance. Before joining SUNZ, he served as the vice president of specialty markets at Synergy Coverage Solutions in Charlotte, North Carolina.
