March 11, 2019 AUTO FRAUD — WASHINGTON AMOUNT: $6,000
After spending nearly 7 months on Washington Insurance Commissioner, Mike Kreidler's Insurance Fraud Most Wanted list, a 28-year-old fraudster turned himself in. The fraudster was charged in July of 2018 after an investigation revealed that he purchased a Progressive auto insurance policy after he was involved in an accident with his 2017 Nissan Rogue. He subsequently filed a claim for $6,000 for the car resulting from an accident that he stated occurred after the policy was instated. The body shop estimate for the damage pre-dated the insurance policy. Progressive discovered this discrepancy, denied the claim, and turned the case over to Kreidler's investigators to dig deeper into this case. On March 3rd, this fraudster turned himself in. He agreed to appear at a hearing later in March to face the charge.
