A former insurance agent from Plano Texas has been ordered by the state to pay back more than $300,000 that she swindled out of her insurer by spending two years of her life faking a serious cancer diagnosis. Authorities say that while she was licensed as an insurance agent, the fraudster bought books on coding cancer claims and created fake medical records of her cancer diagnoses and treatments. She submitted almost 100 claims for out-of-pocket treatment expenses to Aflac, claims which totaled $313,068. She was ordered to pay back the money she inappropriately received and was sentenced to 10 years of probation and 180 hours of community service.
