February 11, 2019 Motorcycle Insurance Fraud — Washington AMOUNT: $6,848
A Washington man was recently found guilty of filing a fraudulent insurance claim in connection with a motorcycle accident. According to investigation, GEICO had cancelled the insurance policy on his 2010 Ducati motorcycle for nonpayment in June 2017. The man got the policy reinstated on August 6th 2017, 16 days after reinstatement filed a total loss claim for a collision involving the motorcycle that had occurred on the 12th, 10 days before he reported the accident and 6 days after he reinstated the policy. Washington State Patrol has records that show that the accident occurred on the 5th of August, the day prior to the reinstatement of the policy. GEICO denied the claim and referred the case to Kreidler's Crimes Investigation Unit, as is required by Washington state law.
