A Las Vegas, Nevada man has pleaded guilty to one count of insurance fraud, a category “D” felony, for a crime committed in 2015. The fraudster was involved in a pedestrian accident scheme with a co-conspirator. The fraud scheme revolved around presenting false claims to insurance companies claiming that a pedestrian was hit and injured by the insureds car. The accidents really never occurred, but the claimants reported medical treatments to increase their settlements with the insurance companies. The fraudster could be sentenced to up to four years in prison and a fine of $5,000. The co-conspirator pleaded guilty to one count of multiple transactions involving fraud or deceit in the course of an enterprise or occupation, and one count of attempted theft.
