 There are multiple providers of car-sharing transportation; while many of their requirements are similar, there are differences among them. The following chart provides information on three of the most popular and well-known car-sharing providers. In car-sharing there are requirements for both owners and drivers. For companies that operate in multiple countries, unless specified otherwise, details stated are for rentals in the U.S.

Liability Insurance

When you rent you get comprehensive, collision, and liability insurance. Policy carries $750 damage fee per incident. $2500 damage fee per incident if driving a specialty or classic vehicle.

Physical Damage Insurance

Three levels. Premium: $500 deductible; Basic: $2500 deductible; Premium and basic levels are secondary to any existing coverage; Decline: renter assumes all liability. Violation of terms of services makes renter fully liable for damages; Does not cover internal or mechanical damage caused by renter.

Primary liability, collision, damage, theft, UM; rates vary by state you are renting in. 24-hour roadside assistance. Damage fees above apply.

Renter is liable for any physical damage, required to pay deductible fee of $2500, $5000 for exotic/classic cars. If renter violated terms of service, held responsible for full amount of the claim; Lower deductible may be purchased.

Owners

Vehicle

Model year 2005 or newer, fewer than 130,000 miles and fair market value up to $75,000 Canada or 150,000 U.S. The Tesla S and Tesla X are also accepted. Specialty and classic cars that fall outside of these requirements are also accepted.

Newer than 2003 with fewer than 125,000 miles; must cease renting when mileage exceeds 125,000; Well maintained; Actual cash value no limit but over 75,000 considered specialty vehicle; 10 or less seats; Private passenger vehicle with at least 4 wheels; photos of all 4 sides must be uploaded to website. No salvage vehicles. No vehicles modified in way that would be liability issue.

Requirements for standard insurance policy: Model 1995, fewer than 150,000 miles, ACV less than $75,000 unless written approval by JustShareIt; Well maintained with proof of last major service and regular service; Less than 300 horsepower, 8 or less seats, photos uploaded to JustShareIt; Private passenger vehicle with at least 4 wheels , no performance alterations. Must install RideLock unless: car between 1995-2003 model, or more than 90,000 miles or you have an existing device like OnStar or loJack. May still install RideLock if desired.

Upload photos to confirm no prior damage. If RideLink is not installed, may be ad hoc checks. RideLink is exclusive technology that provides keyless entry, gps and accelerometer, geo-fencing, which allows owner to set a boundary; can immobilize vehicle if it is reported stolen. If RideLink installed they will remotely test features like doorlock, tracking, etc.
