False Hail Claims—Texas

A public insurance adjuster was indicted for submitting fourteen claims to insurance companies reporting hail damage that did not exist or was not caused by hail. She received a percentage of the settlements from the policyholders. The claims were tied to hail storms in 2012 in the Rio Grande Valley. The adjuster is charged with first-degree felony insurance fraud and faces five years to life in prison. The adjuster was president of Texas Elite Public Adjusters for eight years and had been with the company for thirty-three years.
