The special limit for portable electronic equipment was originally designed for equipment normally used in vehicles that could also be used in the home: CD players, tape players, and other such equipment. However, technology has advanced and now it is easy to hook up a tablet, laptop, smart phone, television, or other equipment to the vehicle. Note that the policy lists equipment that reproduces, receives, or transmits audio, visual, or data signals. Vehicles are no longer simply using radios for the driver to listen to music. The special limit would apply to laptops, televisions, navigation equipment, smart phones, and other equipment as well as radios and CD players.
