We have a named peril (form 2) policy on a tenant-occupied structure. The tenant was involved in a standoff with police and eventually shot himself. The police broke doors and windows and shot tear gas into the dwelling. We do not see where the damage by police is covered since it was not willful malicious damage to harm the insured or the insured's property. The damage by the tenant shooting himself would be covered as explosion.

You are correct, there is no named peril that applies to the actions of the police. Yes, explosion does apply to the gunshot, and any repair or cleanup from that is covered.
