Christopher Sparro will join Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. on September 12, 2016 as executive vice president and chief executive officer of its U.S. insurance operations.
With more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Sparro will be responsible for continuing to build the company's U.S. product portfolio, which currently offers a range of professional, casualty, property, and specialty covers.
Mr. Sparro was most recently president of financial lines for the Americas region at AIG, where he built a network of wholesale and retail distribution partners across the United States.
Mr. Sparro will be based in the company's New York City office, reporting to Jack Kuhn, chief executive officer of global insurance at Endurance.
Mr. Kuhn commented, “Chris has demonstrated his ability to build a profitable and diverse business at AIG, spanning a range of property, casualty, and specialty product offerings and serving clients from small businesses to multi-nationals through a range of distribution channels. He will be a valued addition to our insurance leadership team and a great fit with Endurance's underwriting culture as we continue to build on the successful results achieved by our U.S. franchise over the last few years.”
Mr. Sparro joined AIG in 1990 and has held several senior positions, including president of both the middle market and corporate divisions of management liability for National Union, zonal executive of the greater New York region, president of WorldSource, chief operating officer of the Americas and, most recently, president of financial lines for the Americas region of AIG.
Mr. Sparro holds a B.S. in business computer information systems and an M.B.A. in banking and finance from Hofstra University.
