Staged Accident Fraud—North Carolina

A North Carolina man was found guilty of intentionally causing twelve auto accidents and was sentenced to one year in prison and $45,363.08 in restitution to insurance companies and victims. He was guilty of six felony counts of insurance fraud, four misdemeanor counts of injury to personal property, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon and four of reckless driving to endanger. He made videos of the accidents and posted them on YouTube. He frequented areas with complex traffic patterns and deliberately caused accidents, recording the incidents on a dash-cam.
