Walter Grote has joined QBE North America as senior vice president of commercial property and casualty.
In this national role, Mr. Grote is responsible for leading QBE's commercial lines insurance business, which includes small business to middle market segments, and delivering client-focused products and services that are consistent with QBE's strategy.
Mr. Grote began his career at Travelers, where he spent 25 years in a range of commercial insurance roles including vice president of business insurance and chief underwriting officer and chief operating officer for middle market and commercial accounts. He joined QBE from Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, where he was senior vice president and zone leader for the Midwest.
Commenting on the new appointment, Dave Duclos, chief executive officer of QBE North America, said, “Walter is another great example of our commitment to bringing high caliber talent to QBE North America. I am delighted to have someone with his deep industry knowledge and transformational experience leading our commercial insurance P&C operations as we work to build a top performing business.”
Mr. Grote holds a B.S. in finance and marketing from the University of Richmond, and is based in the Chicago office.
