Identity Theft and Application Fraud—Arizona

Aa Arizona man was sentenced to sixty years in prison for identity theft and insurance fraud. He stole the identity of another and used it to open credit card accounts to finance a 2008 Dodge Durango using the stolen identity. He then obtained an insurance policy through GEICO and was making his second claim on the vehicle when the identity theft was discovered. When he went to pick up a claim check, he had a fraudulent driver's license and there was property in the vehicle that was believed to be stolen. Many other identification documents were found along with equipment to make fraudulent driver's licenses. He was convicted on five counts of forgery and one count of theft and his total sentence is sixty years in prison.
