Is an attached trailer always covered under a business auto policy regardless of its size, ownership, etc. as long as it is being pulled by a covered auto? For example, a truck clips another vehicle while turning into a parking lot. The attached trailer is what actually scrapes the front of the other vehicle. So, if the truck, the covered auto, does not strike the other vehicle, is there coverage under the BAP for this property damage claim?

The answer is: it depends.

If the insured has used symbol 1, any auto, for the covered auto designation, then any auto includes any trailer by definition, regardless of size, ownership, etc.

If the insured chose symbol 2, owned autos only, both owned trailers and nonowned trailers while attached to owned autos are considered covered autos for liability coverage.

If the insured chose symbol 3, owned private passenger autos only as the covered auto symbol, the coverage for trailers is limited to those with a load capacity of 2000 pounds or less designed primarily for travel on public roads.

So what you have to do is check to see which symbol the insured chose for the covered auto designation and then apply that description to the particular trailer used by the insured.
