John Hill, II, president and chief operating officer of New York City-based Magna Carta Companies, was presented with the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies' Chairman's Award during the association's 119th annual convention in National Harbor, Maryland.

“The Chairman's Award was established more than 50 years ago to recognize leadership, accomplishment, and outstanding service,” said Charles M. Chamness, NAMIC's president and chief executive officer. “It would be difficult to find a more accurate description for the work John Hill has done, not only for NAMIC, but the property/casualty insurance industry. He's set the example as an executive, as an active NAMIC member, and as an advocate for the property/casualty insurance industry in New York and on Capitol Hill.”

The association said that Mr. Hill, the 2009-2010 chairman of NAMIC, was a strong voice for the association and the property/casualty industry in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, testifying before the U.S. Senate Banking Committee on the issue of insurance regulation and before the U.S. House of Representatives' Financial Service Committee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises on systemic risk and the potential consequences of federal action on the insurance marketplace.

Mr. Hill serves on the board of directors of the Insurance Federation of New York and previously served on the board of directors of NCCI Holdings, Inc.
