Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (“BHSI”) has named Tom Kocaj vice president and head of financial institutions, executive, and professional lines.

“This appointment underscores our commitment to bringing industry-leading focus to the risks of financial institutions,” said Dan Fortin, the senior vice president of executive and professional lines at BHSI. “Under Tom's leadership, we will continue to expand the products and services we bring to this sector – and provide seamless access not only to management and professional liability products, but to our portfolio of property and casualty solutions as well.”

The company noted that Mr. Kocaj has a quarter century of experience in the insurance industry and expertise spanning all types of management, professional, and financial institutions liability coverages. For the past 11 years, he led the financial institutions business of CNA, most recently serving as senior vice president of financial institutions. He began his career in the corporate training program of Continental Insurance Company, which was later acquired by CNA. He holds a bachelor's degree from Susquehanna University.
