Freedom Specialty Insurance Company has named John Merchant associate vice president of cyber and professional liability.

Mr. Merchant reports to Craig Landi, the president of Freedom Specialty. In his new role, Mr. Merchant will manage the development, underwriting, and risk management of cyber liability and professional products.

“I'm fortunate and excited for this new opportunity,” Mr. Merchant said. “I am very excited to be part of this incredible team as we take our network security, data privacy, and technology risk products to the next level.”

Mr. Merchant launched the cyber liability product for Freedom Specialty in 2011.

“John is a well known expert in the niche market,” said Mr. Landi. “In addition to his data security and risk knowledge, John also possesses insurance industry skills and connections that make him a perfect fit for this role.”
