Unregistered Truck that needs Repairs
November 14, 2013
Our insured has a homeowners HO 03 policy. The insured bought a truck two days before the time of loss. The insured intended to repair the truck and put it back on the road. The insured does have a personal auto policy, but this vehicle as not listed on it. The vehicle was at the insured's home and the block kicked out and rolled backwards and crashed into a fence across the street. Would there be coverage for the fence via liability on the homeowner's policy?

The homeowners policy clearly excludes motor vehicles; even though the vehicle wasn't currently registered, it is required to be registered, so therefore it is excluded. On the auto policy, there is coverage for newly purchased autos for a period of fourteen days.
