Washington, D.C., lobbyist Matt Gannon has been named head of federal affairs at Farmers Insurance. Mr. Gannon replaced Mike Moran, who recently left Farmers to take a position with Zurich North America as assistant vice president of government affairs.

Mr. Gannon joined Farmers after almost three years with the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (“NAMIC”), where he served as NAMIC's lead federal lobbyist for property and casualty insurance and related issues.

“We are extremely excited that Matt is joining the Farmers government and industry affairs team, and we wish Mike Moran well in his new endeavor,” said Dan Dunmoyer, the head of government and industry affairs for Farmers. “Matt comes on board at a time when Farmers and our industry face an expanding regulatory role of the federal government in all types of financial services. We look forward to Matt's advocacy and leadership in Washington as Farmers and our industry confront new challenges and move our organization forward at the federal level.”

Earlier in his career, Mr. Gannon served as a campaign fundraising director at the National Republican Congressional Committee (“NRCC”). Following his stint at the NRCC, he oversaw lobbying and related political activities at the American Financial Services Association.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. Gannon has an undergraduate degree from James Madison University and an MBA from Georgetown University. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and twin daughters.
