Driveway as Other Structure

May 3, 2013

Is a driveway considered covered property under the ISO HO 03 04 91? Our insured hired a contractor to do repairs after a house fire. The contractor hired two different companies to place dumpsters for debris, and they both parked on the driveway and one of them (not sure which one) damaged the driveway. If the driveway is considered as part of the dwelling or as an "Other Structure," then I think there should be coverage, but I cannot determine if the driveway is covered property. Your thoughts?

Yes, a driveway is covered property. If there is a gap between the drive and the dwelling then it is an other structure; if not, it is part of the dwelling. A structure does not have to be a building; it can be anything that is built, such as gazebos, rock gardens, and swing sets.
