Broadened Personal Injury Protection Question
February 18, 2013
Endorsement PP 05 01, named individuals—broadened personal injury protection coverage, states that an individual named in the schedule or declarations shall be considered a named insured for the personal injury protection coverage provided for the state shown in the schedule or declarations.
Our question is: if this is a boyfriend/girlfriend situation and he adds his girlfriend to his policy as a named insured, will this open up coverage to her resident relatives that may be living with her?

The endorsement makes the individual listed in the schedule a named insured. The standard PAP states that an insured means the named insured or any family member (defined term). So, unless your PAP or the PIP endorsement states otherwise, any family member (as defined) of the girlfriend is an insured on the boyfriend's policy.
