Personal Auto Policy and Domestic Partnerships
Is there a way to provide the domestic partner named insured coverage on the same auto policy?
Illinois Subscriber
In those states recognizing domestic partnerships, many insurers offer domestic partner insurance coverage. This is done based on the laws that created the benefits associated with a domestic partnership or civil union.
In those states that do not recognize domestic partnerships, one option is to list both partners on the same policy and they may be eligible for a multi-car/driver discount if they park their cars at the same address. There is also the joint ownership coverage endorsement that might be applicable in some situations.
