Custom Furnishings Exclusion Applies to Pickups or Vans
Under form PP 00 01 01 05, dealing with exclusion 10 under physical damage, it refers to custom furnishings or equipment in or upon any pickup or van. How would this exclusion be interpreted for “autos”? We have had situations where rims and chrome brush guards have been denied under this exclusion with the insurer applying the exclusion to private passenger cars. Is this correct?

That exclusion is very specific, referring to pickups and vans. If the exclusion was meant to apply to every vehicle, it would have said so. Exclusions are meant to be read as narrowly as possible so as to give the insured as much coverage as is reasonable. So, to expand the scope of this exclusion to include all vehicles is an incorrect interpretation.
