Mobile Equipment or Business Personal Property?
December 10, 2009
Our client, a golf course, has a list of items that are currently thought to be covered under its business personal property coverage, including mowers, lawn care tools and equipment, compressors and other shop tools, and general maintenance equipment. It is our understanding that these items do not leave the premises.
Are these items considered mobile equipment and excluded from the property coverage form?
Do these items have to be within 100 feet of the insured building to be covered business personal property?
Kentucky Subscriber
The items you listed would not be considered mobile equipment. Machinery and equipment are included in the list of items covered as business personal property. The form states that the property must be within 100 feet of the described premises, which is not the same as within 100 feet of the insured building. The premises could include the golf course, which would probably be more than 100 feet away from insured buildings.
