Snowplowing Operations and the CGL Form

Does the CGL form provide completed operations coverage for snowplowing claims? I always thought there was coverage but some in our office question that. What is your opinion?

The problem with snow removal operations is found in exclusion (g) in the CGL form. That exclusion applies to bodily injury or property damage arising out of the use of autos owned by or operated by the insured. And, since snow plows are usually attached to autos, that means that coverage could be denied by the general liability insurer. This is especially true since the definition of mobile equipment in the CGL form states that self-propelled vehicles with permanently attached equipment, like snow plows, are considered autos.

So, in order to clear up any confusion, endorsement CG 22 92, snow plow operations coverage, states that when it comes to a completed operations claim based on snow plow operations, the auto exclusion in the GL form does not apply. The CGL form will provide coverage for a BI or PD claim due to snow plowing.
