Spoilage Coverage Does Not Provide Additional Limits
We have a CP 04 40 06 95, Spoilage Coverage form on a retail business. Fire destroyed the business, and we paid the limits on contents. We had $30,000 spoilage coverage, and the insured submitted a claim for this too because of temperature change and loss of power. I feel this is not additional coverage in this situation.

We agree that the spoilage coverage does not amount to additional coverage. The form you reference adds spoilage as a peril. The insured has up to $30,000 for that peril, but it is not additional to the policy limit.
