Scrap Wire Covered as Personal Property
Our insured has the BP 00 02 12 99 (Businessowners Special Property Coverage Form) with endorsement BP 07 06 04 00 (Contractors' Tools & Equipment Coverage). The insured recently had a theft from the building of tools, equipment, and scrap wire. He was planning to sell the scrap copper wire. In viewing the policy and endorsement, we are unsure that there is coverage for the scrap copper wire. Please advise as to your thoughts on this.

Unless the wire is part of inventory or stock the insured held for sale and not just personal property he wanted to sell, nothing in the policy excludes it as personal property. However, the scrap wire would not be considered tools or equipment under the Tools and Equipment Coverage endorsement.
