Arbella sponsors 20th annual Jimmy Fund to support Dana-Faber
The 36-hour Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, held at Boston’s Fenway Park, raised more than $3.5 million.
The 20th annual Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, sponsored by Arbella Insurance Group, raised more than $3.5 million for the Dana-Faber Cancer Institute. Since 2002, the event has raised more than $62 million.
In addition to being the presenting sponsor of the event, which took place at Boston’s Fenway Park on Aug. 23-24, The Arbella Insurance Foundation donated $100,000 to the fund. The contribution will support programs to drive community awareness for the Jimmy Fund, including:
- “Let’s Strike Out Cancer:” The company’s foundation will donate $50 for each strikeout thrown by a Red Sox pitcher during the season.
- Matching gifts: The foundation will match Arbella Insurance Group independent agent donations on a $2 for $1 basis up to $500 maximum from the Foundation per agency. For every donation to the Jimmy Fund by an Arbella Insurance Group employee, the Foundation will match the donation on a $1 for $1 basis under its matching gift program.
“From one local company to another, Arbella is proud to support Dana-Farber and its mission to provide cancer care, education and prevention services,” John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman of the Arbella Insurance Foundation, said in a release. “We are truly lucky to have such a renowned cancer institute right here in our neighborhood.”
This year marked the 14th year the Arbella Foundation has supported the Dana-Faber Institute. During that time, the company, its foundation, and employees and agents have contributed more than $1.4 million to the Jimmy Fund.
