Jackson Sumner & Associates acquired Landers Underwriting of Charlottesville, Virginia, in a deal inked earlier this month. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Landers Underwriting was founded in 1988 as an independent, family-owned MGA licensed to write excess & surplus Lines business across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. Founder and principal, Harry Landers, announced his retirement with the deal.

USI Affinity and the American Academy of Pediatrics announced the addition of medical malpractice insurance to the AAP Insurance Program. The addition of this line of insurance will provide AAP members across the U.S. with a comprehensive medical malpractice offering, including complimentary access to Pediatric Care Online.

Nationwide partnered with Compassion Society Benefits, Inc. to introduce Caregiver Family Leave (CGL) Insurance, a stand-alone paid leave insurance plan designed to support caregivers as either an employer-paid benefit or on a voluntary basis. This coverage option provides up to 80% income replacement for an employee with a caregiving need requiring an extended or intermittent leave from work. CFL coverage addresses a persistent gap between the kinds of workplace benefits provided to caregivers by most employers and the support caregivers in the workplace need.

Risman Insurance Agencies acquired Insurance Associates, Inc., of Burlington, Massachusetts, on August 3, 2020. Insurance Associates has been a family-owned and -operated business and a prominent member of the community for over eight decades. Risman Insurance Agencies, headquartered in Medford, is one of only a handful of independent insurance agencies in Massachusetts that has received the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents’ Five Star Agency designation.

Pumpkin Pet Insurance announced that its insurance plan is now available to cat and dog owners in all 50 states across America. The news comes just three months after the company launched its pet health insurance plan. Their offering reimburses 90% of all eligible vet bills at any licensed veterinary clinic in North America. Pumpkin also provides three annual deductible options as opposed to a pre-condition deductible, and unlike some other plans, is available for all dogs and cats eight weeks and older with no upper age limits.

Coalition announced that its comprehensive cyber insurance offering is now available on an admitted basis in Florida following approval from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation. Organizations across Florida, and insurance brokers nationwide, can now access Coalition’s cyber insurance coverage and security services.

The Upton Group partnered with Acrisure, a global insurance broker. The partnership will enable The Upton Group to build upon a tradition of providing clients with personalized service in all types of franchise businesses with a special emphasis on pizza and food courier delivery insurance and risk management.

USDA Risk Management Agency announced that this year, farmers who planted cover crops on prevented plant acres in select counties in North and South Dakota will be permitted to hay, graze or chop those fields beginning Sep. 1, 2020, rather than Nov. 1. The change is being made because of excessive moisture and flooding in 42 counties in the two states.
