Crawford & Company has named Robert D. “Bob” Jones managing director for Crawford Forensic Accounting Services (CFAS) in the United States. This is a newly created position for CFAS, which is part of Global Technical Services, a division focused on large and complex claims management.

In his new position, Jones will be responsible for developing and maintaining U.S. client relationships, managing operational and administrative activities, and supervising forensic accounting services. As such, all of the company’s U.S. forensic accountants will report to him. Crawford adds that Jones will work closely with its forensic accounting teams in Canada, as well as management teams in Latin America, with the goal of expanding forensic services in those markets.

"Bob is our ideal executive to head up Crawford Forensic Accounting in the U.S.," says Kevin B. Frawley, executive vice president and chief executive officer, Crawford & Company Property & Casualty – Americas. "His deep background in accounting and corporate investigations, combined with his experience with GTS, will serve him well as he focuses on growing this important service."

Formerly, Jones served as managing director of the Strategic Loss Management Group for GTS and was based in Crawford’s Los Angeles, Calif. office.

Forensic Accounting is part of the group of specialty services that make up Crawford Specialty Markets, which is focused on serving Lloyd’s of London and the international adjusting market. Specialty Markets was announced in July 2013 as a new global offering, and bolsters the large and complex claim capabilities of Crawford Global Technical Services.

“Crawford Forensic Accounting Services is an important component of our Specialty Markets offering,” notes John Sharoun, CEO Specialty Markets, Americas. “In an increasingly complex claims environment, we believe there will be growing demand for this service, and, for the U.S., Bob Jones is an outstanding choice to lead it.”

Jones has been involved exclusively in the field of forensic accounting, risk analysis, and corporate investigations for more than 30 years. He has worked extensively with insurance companies, public corporations and private companies, and attorneys, focusing his career on financial forensics and investigations. He has testified on numerous occasions as an expert in civil and criminal matters, and is a U.S. Navy veteran and a California-licensed private investigator.
