A Valentine's Day romance may seem like the perfect launch into a storybook wedding but there are plenty of potential mishaps that lovebirds should be aware of in the run up to their big day. One thing is certain about Valentine's Day: The holiday is big business. Romantics are expected to spend about $25.9 billion on gifts and dinners on the holiday sometimes called the Feast of Saint Valentine, according to WalletHub. And for those with matrimony in mind, that could be the first of hefty purchases to come as the average wedding spend in 2023 is $29,000, Zola reports. The bigger the wedding, the more reasons couples have to procure special event insurance in advance of their nuptials. Such coverage can help families recover from an unforeseen wedding-day loss like those compiled by Investopedia and listed in the slideshow. Knowing about these common wedding liabilities and risks can help engaged couples secure the right insurance for their event. The Insurance Information Institute suggests that agents and brokers who advise people about appropriate wedding and event coverage research whether the clients in question have homeowners or auto insurance that may include relevant coverages. Then again, a notable number of people are opting to forgo the risk of a wedding-day loss altogether as the number of marriages are down nationwide, according to Quote Wizard.
