Springfield, Mo.-based national litigation cost management company LegalNet Inc. has named Rory Haynie president and chief architect. A nine-year industry veteran, he helped develop SIMS Claims, a claims management system originally developed for Berkshire Hathaway.
Chicago-based insurance broker Alper Services LLC has hired Robert Moyer, ARM, AU, as account manager in its commercial lines division. He joins from a major insurance broker, where he was a client service manager.
Bermuda-based underwriting firm Validus Holdings Ltd. has appointed Gary Tiepelman as senior vice president of its Western World Insurance Co. He will be based in Western World’s Scottsdale, Ariz., office. A 30-year underwriting veteran, Tiepelman joined from Scottsdale Insurance Co., where he was senior vice president for underwriting and marketing.
Munich, Germany-based Allianz Group's specialist corporate insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty has named Robert (Bob) J. Fellows head of market management for Canada, effective Jan. 4, 2016. He will be based in Toronto. A 30-year industry veteran, Fellows joins from Zurich Canada, where was senior vice president for distribution and regional management.
New York City-based specialty lines business Liberty International Underwriters has appointed Michael Finnegan to the newly created position of chief underwriting officer, U.S. Operations. He joins from Liberty Mutual Reinsurance, where he was chief operating officer. Finnegan will be based in New York.
New York City-based specialist insurer Hiscox USA has announced two senior appointments to its professional risks division:
Neil Lipuma, previously head of Financial Services for Hiscox USA, has been appointed to the newly created role of professional risks practice leader. He will be based in Hiscox’s New York office and has nearly 20 years of underwriting experience.
Maureen LePiane has been named to the newly created position of head of middle market errors and omissions for the professional risks division. She joins from Allianz Global, where she was E&O practice group leader. LePiane will be based in Hiscox's New York office.
New York City-based investigative, compliance and cyber defense services firm K2 Intelligence has appointed former New York Police Department Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly vice chairman. He joins from Cushman & Wakefield, where he was president of the firm’s risk management services group.
Also joining K2 Intelligence are Michael J. Farrell and David C. Kelly.
Farrell has been appointed managing director. He joins from Cushman & Wakefield, where he was a managing director in the firm’s risk management services group.
Kelly has been hired as associate managing director. He also joins from Cushman & Wakefield, where he was a director in the firm’s risk nanagement services group.
Thomas F. Wildsmith IV, a health actuary who serves as senior public policy manager for Aetna, began his term as president of the Washington, D.C.-based American Academy of Actuaries on Nov. 12, succeeding Mary D. Miller. Wildsmith has more than 30 years of actuarial experience, and was elected by the professional association's board of directors on Oct. 7, 2014.
