Pierre Wauthier, 51, was named Zurich Financial Services Group's chief financial officer and member of the group executive committee.

His appointment take effect Oct. 1. He will report to Chief Executive Officer Martin Senn.

Wauthier replaces Dieter Wemmer, who is retiring from Zurich at the end of this year.

Wauthier became group treasurer of Zurich in 2007 as well as head of centrally managed businesses in 2010. He joined Zurich in 1996 as corporate credit and investment risk manager and served from 1999 to 2002 as head of investor relations and rating agency management.

Wauthier was named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Zurich's wholly owned subsidiary Farmers Group, Inc. in 2002.

Before joining Zurich, he worked with J.P. Morgan in London and Paris.

Axel P. Lehmann, chief risk officer and chairman of Farmers Group will succeed Wemmer and take on the additional role of regional chairman.
