American International Group announced appointments of a newchief executive and chief operating officer for its AIGEnvironmental unit which has lately seen defections by severalexecutives.

The company said Russell Johnston has been named president andCEO of AIG Environmental and Kimberly Hanna has been namedexecutive vice president and COO and will report to Mr.Johnston.

AIG Environmental, a unit of AIG Commercial Insurance, is apollution liability provider. Mr. Johnston will replace JosephBoren, who has left the company. He will report directly to John QDoyle, president and CEO of AIG Commercial Insurance, the companysaid.

Two weeks ago Adrien Robinson, an underwriter and underwritingmanager for the Chicago, St. Louis and Cleveland offices for AIGEnvironmental, left for Navigators Environmental with GregoryHeidemann and Patrick Crotty, both of whom held the title ofassistant vice president in AIG Environmental's Chicago office.

Ms. Hanna, the new COO, has been with AIG since 1996 and hasheld various positions within the Environmental Unit. CEO Johnstonhas been with AIG since 1990 and has served in various managementpositions within AIG's Risk Management Group.

Mr. Doyle in a statement noted that Mr. Johnston has over 20years of underwriting and management experience in theproperty-casualty industry. He said he was excited about the newexecutives leading AIG Environmental's senior team and that heexpects “continued strong performance from that organization.”
